Marin Chiropractor Comments:
As a health practitioner I always want to set the best example possible for my patients in regard to health and wellness. I try to stay fit and practice the principles I teach. I consider my self extremely fortunate to have incredible patients that in exchange teach me their life lessons.
I have been a trail runner for the last 10 years while balancing this with a consistent Yoga practice to minimize the compression running can incur. I consider myself to be a fit individual. I have a Bachelor of Science in Health and Sports Sciences with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology and Biomechanics. With all of this back ground I still have much to learn about how to get the most out of my vessel (body).
Recently I noticed a few patients that have had transformational experiences in their body. They are stronger, leaner and some of their long term subluxation (misalignment) patterns have changed. I asked what these patients had been doing and there was a common denominator. They were all partaking in a form of fitness called Cross Fit. More specifically they have been attending classes at Cross Fit of Marin.
"I was intrigued so I decided to check it out for myself. I took 5 foundations classes to learn more about the process and now I have been attending classes regularly. With all my background and experience I have never seen a more complete fitness regimen.
The following is a definition of cross fit from www.crossfit.com.
"CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.
Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.
The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.
The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen. "
I am learning how to get a more complete and well rounded level of fitness. My areas of weakness have been isolated and now I can measure their progress. It is a humbling but fun experience at the same time.
Cross fit of Marin has become more than a place to work out. It has become a place to learn, grow and a place to share community. The entire staff is extremely knowledgeable and kind.
My learning curve about fitness has increased drastically in just a couple of months. I highly recommend this form of fitness and if you are local to the North Bay I highly recommend Cross Fit of Marin.
